The question used that inspired the image and story asked if your characters stopped at a roadside stand what would they be buying? I can see them returning to their Inn at the end of the day:
Iris sits at a table in the adjacent tavern, a stack of books crowding out her dinner as she holds a prized scroll aloft. So engrossed in her treasures she almost doesn’t notice the others pulling up their chairs.
Bryant sloshes back his tankard and slams it on the table with a satisfied belch making Iris grimace and draw her items closer. He complains of an upset stomach at which Kyle mocks him for over-eating earlier today.
Iris inquires when Bryant had time for a meal as they had been gone all day, besides she distinctly recalled him not bringing any coins with him as he had tried mooching off the rest of them. Bryant croons “Who says you need coins?”
Kyle keeps his eyes trained to his toy, a newly imported invention. Darren comments on how much money Kyle wastes on such items causing Iris to ask how he could afford so many.
Kyle grins, eyes twinkling as he describes obtaining a “special donor” today. Iris chooses not to ask. She turns to Darren instead and asks if he made any good finds today. Before he can speak Kyle gives a devilish laugh and declares he saw Darren dropping some serious coin on high quality fabric. “Now why would such a manly guy need something so dainty I wonder?”
Darren glares as his cheeks begin to redden “It was a wedding gift for my sister.”
“Uh-huh.” Kyle smiles back
Sensing another fight brewing, Iris allows herself to fall back into her books once more.
